Winemaker Notes :
Tucked away in the tiny hamlet of Pievesciata is Vallepicciola, where the Bolfo family has been producing some delicious expressions of the Castelnuovo Berardenga terroir. The Pievesciata cuvee is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend that also incorporates Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese into the blend. Lush on the palate without being heavy, this wine shows a nose of dark berry fruits like cassis with balsamic undertones and hints of fresh violets. In the mouth the wine is silky and savory with a long finish that shows just a suggestion of earthy spice.
