93pts James Suckling
A pure and intense Sancerre with a saline edge to the smoky gooseberries that follow through to a textured, medium-bodied palate with a fresh laser beam of acidity. Mouthwatering, taut and mineral. So delicious now, so why wait?
90pts Vinous
The very good value for money 2021 Sancerre Anciennes Vignes is so named because the vines are 30-45 year-old vines – anciennes meaning old rather than ancient in the same way that you’d see vieilles vignes on some labels. Low yields have created a wine with plentiful insensity while the limestone soils offers a tender expression. It’s a floral, fruity and finely constructed Sancerre offering balance and harmony
Winemaker Notes
Lemon-color with golden-green reflections. Complex and intense aromas of acacia blossoms with a Muscat-like nose of passionfruit. the palate is full and fat. Very well balanced. Notes of litchi and a small touch of honey.
A great match for richer seafood dishes such as crab cakes or squid in a risotto or squid stewed with red peppers and tomatoes.
