The 2016 Castello del Terriccio (a blend of mostly Syrah with Petit Verdot and complementary red grapes) is a concentrated and inky dark wine with almost no light penetration. The wine moves smoothly over the palate with the focus and precision that we have come to associate with this classic vintage. There is plenty of dark fruit, with plum and blackberry, but the wine is also fleshed out by spice, toast and burning embers. The tannins are dry and a bit powdery, but the wine maintains a rich and compact structure overall.

The 2016 Castello del Terriccio is approximately 60% Syrah and the rest Petit Verdot and was aged in new tonneaux for approximately 18 months. The nose is forward and layered with a warming cologne of leather, cigar, blackberry, and black cherry, and the wine is full bodied, with fresh acidity on the finish and some gripping structure that cleans up nicely. With its ample and pure black cherry fruit, sage, and tea leaf. this lovely wine will be worth holding onto for a few more years and drinking over the following 15.

Currants, sandalwood, tamarind and fresh mushrooms on the nose and palate. It’s full-bodied, yet tight and structured with a polished, racy finish. Still needs time in the bottle. Drink after 2022.

A warm and friendly nose of cherry pie and strawberry candy stays fruit-forward and juicy on the palate, with some depth added by notes of bitter orange jam, wild herbs and crushed stones. Firm but pliable tannins and medium acid make for easy but sophisticated sipping.
