92pts Jeb Dunnuck
The 2016 Côtes Catalanes Others checks in as 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Carignan, and the rest a mix Mourvèdre and Lledoner Pelut that was brought up all in barrel. This cuvée functions as a second wine yet tastes like a top cuvée with its deep, rich black fruits, chocolate, leather, and peppery herb aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, concentrated, and mouthfilling, it’s a wine I’d be thrilled to drink.
Winemaker Notes
Ruby red in coloring with a distinguished brick rim, this wine offers alluring notes of marion berries, blue fruits, compote, garriuge, and a touch of dried lavender. Rich, concentrated dark fruits are immediately noticeable upon entry which transition effortlessly to a piquant mid palate of plum tart, dried spices, and mountain herbs. Persistent acidity juxtaposes the generous core and finishes with a lengthy coda.
